3 Things You Need To Do on Vacation

1. Set your intentions for the trip early.
Whether you are going on a solo trip or as a group it’s important to set your intentions and expectations for the trip early. If the trip is truly a vacation – relaxing, eating, maybe one or two excursions – it’s important to communicate that within the group. If the trip is an actual full itinerary trip – it is important to communicate that too as this will require a greater expenditure of energy throughout your stay. You do not want to go on a trip and be disappointed because you feel as though you did not get the most out of it – setting clear expectations early on will help you maximize your time in the best way possible.
2. Relax/Unplug/Recharge
One of my favorite things about going on vacation is that no matter what I do or where I go, I naturally get a reset or a greater perspective on things. Recently, I went on a trip to Turks, and I was able to catch up on some reading which is a goal I have had for myself all year. The result of getting closer to my goals felt amazing.
Some things you can do to relax/unplug/recharge:
- Rest
- Practice a hobby
- Do something creative
- Do nothing at all
- Put no pressure on yourself to perform
- Less screen/phone time
- Set social media time limits
- Read
- Watch T.V.
- Journal
3. Do something you’ve never done before.
The best way to do something you’ve never done before is either through excursions or by immersing yourself in another culture. When going on excursions, pick things you wouldn’t normally do. I’m from Oklahoma, so when I go to beaches, I love to go snorkeling. Seeing barrier reefs and the vastness of oceans from under water is incredible. I also like to eat food that is native to the place I go to. This is a fun way for me to immerse myself in another culture and try new things.
Your next adventure awaits!
